Food That Makes You Feel Good!

New to downtown Lincoln is Dammi Dammi, a Mediterranean eatery that is about to become your go-to spot for breakfast, lunch, or even dinner! Father-son-duo Pat and Andy Lane are proud of what they’ve created, and they’re perfectly positioned to catch the eyes of many downtown dwellers and workers.

We were very impressed with the quality of the breakfast options they offer. Their Mediterranean Breakfast Sandwich is refreshing, tasteful, and satisfying—a great way to start your day. We also recommend the Spanakopita, which are crispy breaded triangles filled with feta, spinach, and cream cheese. Something that we appreciated with each new dish we tried was the incorporation of Spanish spices, which really made breakfast items such as the Spanish Skillet and Caprese Omelette stand out/ You’ll love their smoky, peppered potatoes. You know they’re good when you don’t even need to add ketchup for flavor! Another notable item was the Greek Yogurt Parfait, which is perfect for on-the-go. You’ll enjoy the homemade Mediterranean-seasoned granola, honeyed Greek yogurt, seasonal fruits, and fresh mint.

On to the all-day menu, which is complete with salads, soups, and protein bowls. We started with one of absolute favorites, the Citrus Salmon. The use of orange hollandaise sauce smothered on top of this juicy salmon with the perfect dashing of Italian herbs made our eyes wide (and our mouths even wider)!  Another must-try is the Honey Harissa Chicken. Packed with flavor and the spiciness level of your liking, this dish offers the perfect blend of sweet and savory. For the Falafel fans out there, you’ll be impressed with the lemon tahini sauce that comes with for dipping. Also, for even more protein, you can choose from the Shawarma-Style Beef or Moroccan Lamb. Both of these meats were seasoned and tenderized to perfection. Dammi Dammi serves these options up with your choice of rice and/or a salad. Their za’atar rice is extra special. It has hints of cinnamon which is a common cooking practice in Mediterranean cuisine—it adds a certain warmth to the dish and it compliments meats very well.

From 4 p.m. to close, Dammi Dammi makes their Tapas Menu available. Our favorite selection on this menu was definitely the Bacon-Wrapped Dates. YUM! Once again mastering the sweet and savory combination, these dates are also served with blue cheese, spicy honey, toasted almonds, and pickled vegetables. Your pallet will be doing celebratory flips after indulging in this assortment. We were especially tipping our hats at Dammi Dammi’s pickled vegetables, which can also be found on the Charcuterie Platter. We highly recommend trying the Charred Brussels Sprouts too—we decided that these actually surpassed many other “higher-end” restaurants in chewability and overall taste.

In case you need any more reasons to patron Dammi Dammi, we should also mention their unmatched desserts and gelato, along with their coffees and cocktails. The Panna Cotta stopped us in our tracks. If you look up the word “Delicious” in the dictionary, it wouldn’t be surprising if you found a picture of this cream cheese caramel delight topped with coffee caviar. The Gelato selection boast some unique flavors that you’ll have to try for yourself. You won’t be disappointed! And if you really want to get fancy, ask for Affogato, which is the gelato of your choice topped with a shot of espresso.  It’s a great way to start the day, while their Old Fashioned or Empress Gin & Tonic is a good way to end it.

The best thing about Dammi Dammi is that their food is healthy and clean. In other words, you won’t feel like ca-ca afterwards. So head on over to Dammi Dammi off of 13th and P Streets, your body and your taste buds will thank you!
