Give us a brief synopsis of what your company does.

Our community provides seniors affordable independent and assisted living options as well as short term respite stays.

How long have you been in Lincoln?

We opened in 1985.

Who are the owners/important executives?

Gramercy Hill is owned and operated by a publicly traded corporation, Capital Senior Living which is based in Dallas, TX. It is one of the nation’s largest operators of residential communities offering affordable housing for senior adults.

What do you think makes you different from other communities similar to yours?

We are well established in the community with a solid history of providing healthcare benefits to seniors. Gramercy Hill is an affordable option for seniors looking for a variety of apartments styles. We have large, newly remodeled apartments with all updated amenities. Our homelike atmosphere is appealing to our diverse population.

What do you like about doing business in Lincoln?

The college town atmosphere is appealing to our Husker fans, as the majority of our residents are from the Lincoln area. Residents enjoy taking field trips to local restaurants, theaters, and shopping centers.

What kind of community organizations/groups is your business involved with?

Nebraska Assisted Living Association, Nebraska Department of health and Human Services, Aging Partners, COAHP, East Lincoln Business Association, and the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce.

What is your business philosophy or mission statement?

Our goal is to enrich the lives of our residents by providing an environment that is physically, spiritually, and emotionally enhancing.

What changes have you seen in the industry and your company in the past few years?

There have been a lot of changes in our industry in the past few years. Senior apartments are becoming attractive to a broader audience seeking an active lifestyle in their retirement years. More options are available for seniors at the different stages of life. Considering the aging population of baby boomers, our industry will be in an uphill climb over the next several years.

What is one of the biggest challenges that your company has faced?

Knowing that the industry is growing is adding more competition to an already saturated landscape.

What was the biggest turning point in your business?

Converting from an all independent community to now include assisted living as well as short-term respite care.
