Delivering Delicious Mexican Favorites at a Convenient Lincoln Location!

From creamy, delicious queso all the way to gulf shrimp wrapped in perfectly smoked bacon, El Potro (www.facebook.com) located conveniently on South 10th St. offers a wide variety of your favorite Mexican foods with their extensive menu options and kind, attentive service!

When walking into El Potro, we couldn’t help but notice the quaint atmosphere with beautifully detailed chairs and booths, along with a granite bar that stretched across the front of the dining room. The restaurant was set up and decorated perfectly to cater to the smaller space, allowing enough room for families to dine in or couples looking for a date night dinner.

After looking over the menu with too many delicious choices to count, we started off our meal with the super appetizer that was the perfect sharing size – however you might have a hard time sharing a platter that’s packed with cheesy quesadillas, crunchy taquitos, and cream cheese stuffed jalapeno poppers! We then tried the Trio Enchiladas that offered the perfect combination of beef, chicken, and cheese enchiladas; each topped with a different sauce. The delicious mix of El Potro’s traditional enchilada sauce, white queso sauce, and green salsa with a bit of a kick is the perfect option for enchilada lovers that enjoy variety and flavor packed goodness.

Our jaws dropped when we saw the Fajita Acapulco come out on a sizzling hot plate paired with warm flour and corn tortillas. Gulf shrimp wrapped in smoked bacon with sautéed peppers and onions and topped with queso sauce, does it really get much better than that? The juicy bacon along with the crunch of fresh gulf shrimp made it a unique fajita dinner with a yummy twist. The menu offers multiple options for shrimp lovers from their Gulf of Mexico section, including Enchiladas Acapulco that is deliciously stuffed with shrimp and crab, and a shrimp cocktail served in a jumbo glass and topped with avocado, pico de gallo, and their house cocktail sauce.

With a variety of specialty items to choose from, we just had to try the Chimichanga filled with beef and shredded chicken, deep fried to a perfectly golden brown color and then smothered with creamy queso sauce – and it did NOT disappoint! A fan favorite for the table was kindly recommended by our knowledgeable waitress, the Pollo a la Crema.

Thinly sliced chicken cooked in authentic cream sauce and topped with bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms and served with rice, it’s just as delicious as it sounds. The mouthwatering cream sauce incorporated the mozzarella flavor of the queso and was the perfect amount of spice to enjoy atop the freshly grilled chicken.

To satisfy our sweet tooth, we couldn’t help but try a couple options from the desert menu. The Flan was smooth and sweet with the perfect texture, much like that of cheesecake or banana pudding. Lastly, we tried the Sopapillas covered with a delectable layer of cinnamon sugar and served with whipped cream topped with a cherry.

El Potro delivers tasty authentic Mexican food, and customers can now enjoy an ice cold margarita with their meal with their recently obtained liquor license! From the many different menu options to choose from, there’s no doubt you’ll enjoy the cheesy goodness of the queso and plates packed full of delicious Mexican flare. And don’t worry, we WILL be returning to try out the margs!
