Industry Leader in Post-Frame Manufacturing & Construction

Morton Buildings, headquartered in Morton, IL, is the industry leader in post-frame manufacturing and construction. At Morton, the difference is in the details. From their cutting-edge innovations, best-in-class warranty, to their craftsmen in the field, Morton Buildings is dedicated to surpassing expectations. Their legacy of excellence in construction spans more than a century and more than a quarter-million satisfied customers.

The Waverly office, located at 12055 Hwy 6, has been serving Omaha and surrounding areas since the early 1970s. As the Omaha and Lincoln areas have grown over the years, so has Morton Buildings. The office has been able to still service the agricultural community while adapting and evolving to meet other local community and business needs. The local organizations that Morton employee-owners are involved with include the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce, Sarpy County Chamber of Commerce, Home Builders Association of Lincoln, and a variety of community charitable organizations.

The roots of the company go back to 1903, when Interlocking Fence Company was formed by John Getz, Sr., who began manufacturing high-quality woven wire fencing. The business soon grew into a small mail order business and maintained 14 retail stores in the state of Illinois to service the ever more sophisticated farming industry. The company then began manufacturing grain handling and storage products that made the task of increasing farm productivity easier for their customers.

After WWII, farm mechanization exploded both in size and scope. As farm machinery began to grow in size and utilization, the need to house and protect the farm machinery and provide livestock shelter began to grow exponentially. In 1963, Henry A. Getz became president and started restructuring the company to focus on expanding the building business, which culminated the name change to Morton Buildings, Inc. in 1965.

Most early pioneers of post-frame construction promoted the structure as a low-cost product with a limited-life application. Henry saw the opportunity differently. By emphasizing quality, improved appearance, and value over cost, the company was able to differentiate itself from all others by initiating innovations such as custom roll-formed steel panels with its anti-syphon groove (as compared to galvanized corrugated metal used by others), square posts (as compared to round uneven posts), colored steel, overhangs, and wainscoting over protective liners. As the company experienced rapid growth, it resisted the temptation to sacrifice quality.

Today, another differentiator of the company is the integrated design and construction services of Morton designBUILD®. The most effective and most popular method used to deliver construction projects in America is the design-build approach. This approach means that one entity, the design-builder, enters into a single contract with the owner to provide both design and construction services.

The benefits of sole-source responsibility that Morton designBUILD offers include:

  • Greater cost efficiencies with fewer change orders
  • Earlier knowledge of total project costs
  • Shared responsibility for the design, budget and schedule
  • Quicker project delivery through superior collaboration

Working with the client and local Morton sales consultant, Morton designBUILD is a dedicated team of architects, project managers, engineers, drafting technicians, project estimators, and construction management professionals, that all utilize the same four-phase project delivery system process to deliver commercial projects that meet clients’ scope, schedule, and budget.

Morton’s commercial portfolio includes animal care facilities, churches and activity centers, equestrian facilities, fire stations and municipal buildings, offices, financial institutions, O&M facilities, restaurants, breweries, wineries, schools, retail spaces, and wedding venues.
