ChefauChef is a catering business in Lincoln that specializes in in-home caterings, catering to off-site locations, and developing food service programs for offices and college Greek housing. ChefauChef services don’t stop there; ChefauChef caters all event types.  This includes, but is not limited to, wedding rehearsal and receptions, private dinner parties and in-home cooking lessons.  Every event receives personalized, detailed planning by Aaron Young, Executive Chef and owner of ChefauChef.

How did you get started in the business? – I have always loved serving and making people happy with food.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – My age.  I have been very passionate and career centered since high school. Being in management positions since such a young age has been tough because I work with many more seasoned professionals. It has been a challenge earning my place in Lincoln’s culinary world–but well worth it.  This is a great, growing culinary community to be a part of.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Growing my business.  I have been blessed to take my five-year plan I made last year, and surpass it this year.

Tell me a little about your family. – I celebrated one year of marriage to my wife, Danielle this past June.  She is my love, best friend, and fellow decision maker.  She works full time as nurse here in Lincoln, and helps with many of my catering events.  We have a beautiful, 5-year-old canine American named Amy who is part shepherd, lab, and boxer. My parents and brother live in Lincoln and my in-laws live in Grand Island.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Being married. It has made me learn to be a better listener and more respectful of the wants and needs of others. Danielle and I have also grown so much in our walkwith Christ and because of that we have a stronger foundation.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – On those rare days you’ll typically find me golfing, cycling, or drinking Vino with the wife.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – The average person, who did not go to high school with me, probably doesn’t know that I am a master with the yo-yo.

What are you the most proud of? – Professionally, my staff because without them ChefauChef would not be what it is. Personally, I am most proud of my relationship with Christ. In the past few years I have gotten into the Wordmore, attended more church activities, and become a faithful giver.  God truly blesses those who serve Him, and I am thankful for the opportunities I have to share His love through my food.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Passionate

If you could have a super power, what would it be? – The ability to learn and retain information super quickly! Like in the movie Limitless, but without the side effects.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – Meal preparation for my own home.  After cooking all day, I rarely want to cook in the evenings.  My wife doesn’t mind though as we get to try all of the places Lincoln has to offer.

If our readers would like to contact you, how should they do so? – The best way is by email at aaron@chefauchef.com or by visiting my website at www.chefauchef.com.
