Tell us a little about your business.

Shirts101 specializes in custom apparel and promotional products. Each project we work on with a client is unique in its own way. From screen printing to embroidery, or heat-pressed products, our goal at Shirts101 is to make the entire process simple and hassle free for the client. We take pride in our art department and know that we’ll create long-lasting customer relationships with a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

How did you get started in the business?

I started working in the sewing machine industry when I was 15 years old at Sew Creative. My ex-husband had started working for Shirts101 (DesignWear then) and they asked him if I would be interested in learning to digitize. That was in 1995 and I have been in the industry ever since. I left in 2005 for about eight years to move to Arizona, where I still worked in the embroidery industry, and I ended up coming back to Shirts101 when I returned to Nebraska.

What has been your most important achievement professionally?

While I worked for Shirts101, I decided to also go to Barbering School. I continued to digitize for Shirts101 and opened my own barber shop right out of school. That was a huge achievement for me. I’ve managed to continue to be in the screen print and embroidery industry while still being able to do hair for the last 17 years.

Tell us a little about your family.

I have a wonderful boyfriend named Matt, two cats named Wellie and Lestat, and a miniature pinscher named Rollins.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?

Last year I was diagnosed with breast cancer, which I have beaten, and nothing makes you realize how important it is to have an amazing support system like a life-changing event.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?

I am a barber part-time, so Sundays are my day off and my goal is to stay in my pajamas as long as possible.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?

I was born across the pond in Ipswich, England. My dad was in the Air Force for 21 years and my family was stationed there for about six years. We moved back to the states when I was four and, for the longest time, I referred to cookies as biscuits.
