Meet Andrew Anderson, the financial advisor for Cruise & Associates.

Tell us a little about your business. – Cruise & Associates (cruise-associates.com) is an accounting firm in Lincoln and five other locations. I work with individuals and businesses to build a successful retirement plan and manage their invested assets.

How did you get started in business? – I interned under Rob Cruise, the president of Cruise & Associates, as I completed my studies.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Being able to build a plan so that someone can have the retirement they dreamed of.

Tell us a little about your family. – I have been married for three years to my wife Hester, and we have a three-year-old daughter named Keira.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – A construction accident that gave me the time and opportunity to pursue a career in finance.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – I like to travel with my family to some place new.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I enjoy collecting vintage and antiques. I always visit the local thrift and antique shops when traveling.

Who inspires you? – My daughter Keira. Having someone trust me completely drives me to do everything I can to reward that trust.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” It is a good reminder to take a step back if you are stuck and be willing to be flexible.

If you had to choose one descriptive word to be remembered as what would it be? – Dependable.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be? – Teleportation to cut down on travel time.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – My wife says I am her go-to person for hanging and leveling wall decorations.

What talent would you most like to have? – I would love to have a photographic memory. It would save me a lot of time taking notes.

What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with and are there any special reasons why? – I enjoy helping with the high school I graduated from. I believe our kids can benefit from developing finance skills early in life.

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – Tom Brokaw’s The Greatest Generation.

What is your favorite local restaurant? – Hurts Donuts for those special occasions.
