What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – In 2009, I had to make the decision and carry out the closing of a facility in a rural town.  My heart ached for the town and it was a very difficult decision.  However, my team and I made every effort to offer the employees a place to work and the residents a place to live.  I was proud of how we communicated the plan and gave people options – it made the process easier.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – I have developed talented people who have become great leaders and change agents in the long term care profession.

Tell me a little about your family. – I have a wife and three sons, ages 7, 5, and 3.  We are expecting our 4th child in March, and we are not going to find out if it is a boy or a girl prior to birth.  People ask me if we hope it is a girl, but I just hope the baby is healthy.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – It depends on the time of the year.  I like to fish, hunt, golf, exercise, and work/play in the yard.
