How did you get started in the business? – I was raised around insurance. My dad has been an insurance agent for 46 years. I worked in his office in high school and college. After the army I was a claims adjustor for 17 years before becoming an agent.
What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Our agency customer satisfaction scores rank as one of the highest in the state and country, and we take great pride in providing valuable service and advice to our customers. This includes making sure we can be depended on to understand and fulfill people’s needs and thoroughly answer all of their questions. As a result, we are rewarded by seeing the high marks every month.
Tell me a little about your family. – My wife and I are from South Dakota and have lived in Lincoln for 15 years. We have a daughter that is 13 and son that is 10. We also have a dog we adopted from the humane society. Our spare time is spent with baseball, hockey, soccer, and swimming.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Volunteering with the children’s activities, yard work, camping, going back to the family farm in South Dakota, spending the day downhill skiing or following the Huskers. I love water activities whether it is liquid, frozen, or snow.
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I was a youth and college hockey referee for more than 20 years. I’ve coached hockey for 12 years. When I was a little kid, playing outdoor hockey was the norm and an indoor game was something special. When I was in high school, I played in some of the last sanctioned outdoor hockey games in Minnesota and South Dakota. I even proposed to my wife during open skate at the hockey rink.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – Never give up, do your best, and always strive for improvement!
