ComPro has distinguished itself in the Lincoln market by providing professional, experienced service with integrity and a strong commitment to excellence. Brian McPike is the President of ComPro.

How did you get started in the business? – I was in Kirksville, MO and just helped close a business during the recession of 1983.  There were no other jobs to be found except to sell insurance, the rest is history.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – The latest is staying up with the changes in health care reform.  The ways of yesterday are gone and the rules and guidelines have changed.   When the Health Care Reform bill was passed in 2010 we made a conscious decision to learn as much about the law as possible and to become one of the specialists in the market.  This has been a continuing process to educate ourselves with all the changes.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Receiving my “Registered Health Underwriter” designation and building my business, ComPro.

Tell me a little about your family. – I have a beautiful wife Chris (partner in the agency) of 37 years, three children–Kayla, Jared and Colby (2 working in our agency)–and four grandchildren.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – March 30, 1986. I’d been working for New York Life selling life insurance and had been in the insurance business about 2 ½ years.  I did not have enough sales to get my ‘draw’ for the next pay period.  I had to tell my wife this, and she looked at me very sternly and said ‘You better get your butt out there and sell then!’ That was huge; you do not want to let down your best friend and spouse.  I haven’t looked back since, but I still don’t like March 30th!

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I am a diehard Missouri Tiger fan.  MIZ–ZOU!

What are you the most proud of? – My family, they’re great.  I am very blessed.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Head to the lake!

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – By my father, he ran a little general store in Emden, MO and I wanted to purchase it.  He would not allow me to do that, because he didn’t want me to be tied to it 24 hours a day.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Trustworthy.

If you had a theme song, what would it be? – “I Still Believe” by Russ Taff.

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – The Bible.  You may not read much each day, but you will always learn something new, even if you’ve read that section before.

What is your favorite movie? – McClintock (John Wayne).

What is your favorite TV show? – NCIS.

What is your favorite local restaurant? – Lazlo’s.

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – My father.  He wasn’t famous, but I loved him dearly and he could tell a great story.
