Tell us a little about your business. – Lincoln Federal Savings Bank (LincolnFed.com) has been a local hub for banking services since 1906! Our goal is to make saving, home owning, and growing a business attainable for all.
How did you get started in the business? – When I graduated college, I had three job offers, one in Omaha, one in New York, and one in Sacramento. My girlfriend was in Omaha, so I stayed, took the job, married her and the rest is history! Banking is the only business that I’ve ever been in.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Alignment. It’s the biggest challenge I face as a senior leader. Once it’s achieved, it has to be maintained so I’m always chasing it. We have to make sure that the team, the organization, and our goals are all aligned, all of the time. I love that here at Lincoln Federal we are aligned, excited, and focused on growth right now. It makes my job really exciting and fulfilling.
What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Growing a community bank to a point that assets and personnel doubled was one of the turning points of my career and an achievement that I am very proud of.
Tell us a little about your family. – I am married to the same girlfriend that kept me in Omaha all those years ago with four children and two greyhounds. We have a great love for sports, the Creighton Bluejays, and doing things together. When we aren’t attending a sporting event, I’m coaching, or helping to plan the next tournament.
Who inspires you? – My kids. I don’t want to sound cheesy, but it’s true. They have great attitudes, they work hard, and they have success. It’s a great reminder when life feels uphill that maybe a shift in my attitude and a more lighthearted approach might help me reach my goal that much more easily.
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Caring. I truly care about the people around me. My family, my coworkers, and everyone that I encounter. I want to see people be successful and happy and I hope that they know that.
If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – I would be a teacher. I have two sisters that are teachers and I can feel the joy that it brings them and see the daily impact that they leave with their students.
What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? – Youth athletic organizations. I have been on the board, volunteering for, or helping fundraise for many organizations in the past 25 years – primarily in the Omaha area as my kids attend school there. I believe that sports teach morals, ethics, and instill a mindset of teamwork that is invaluable and should be accessible to all children.
What is your favorite TV show? – Curb Your Enthusiasm – If you haven’t seen it, it’s a great watch!
What is your favorite local Lincoln restaurant? – I am currently looking to add to my list of favorites or go-to spots in Lincoln, but so far, I’ve really been enjoying MoMo’s.
