Tell us a little about your business.

The simple answer is that we fix cars, but the truth is, there is so much more involved. Our goal at inMOTION is to provide a personalized experience for the customer that is tailored to what is best for them, their family, and their vehicle. We want people to understand why some things on their vehicle are important to repair, and why some things are not. Education has been, for us, the best tool to help people make the proper decision on what to do with their vehicle. That is why we employ a digital inspection system that shows people exactly what our technicians are seeing.

What has been your most important achievement professionally?

Being a part of the team when inMOTION won National Shop of the Year at the 2017 VISION Hi-Tech Training & Expo, a national conference attended by over 3,000 automotive service professionals. At inMOTION, we have a very service-driven and close-knit culture, and it was very rewarding to see that be recognized in front of industry leaders and our peers.

Tell us a little about your family.

My family is my world. I have an amazing fiancé named Victoria, who I’m happily marrying this coming May. She is finishing up her master’s in healthcare administration, all while working from home and taking care of our kids. I couldn’t be more proud of her. We have a wonderful daughter named Viarra. She loves drawing and playing with L.O.L. Surprise Dolls. We also have a seven-month-old son named Ezra who is a big fan of bouncing in his play saucer and putting things in his mouth (his feet, hands, toys… anything in arm’s reach). We also have two dogs!

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?

I love to go fishing with my friends or work on our house. We recently built a large deck and now we are deciding what our next project will be. It is satisfying to me to work with my hands and see things come together.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?

My father and I backpacked through South America for almost a month in 2016. We did everything from hiking Machu Picchu and white water rafting, to camping in the Amazon jungle, exploring Buenos Aires, and seeing Iguazu Falls. I love traveling. My next adventure is honeymooning in Aruba with my beautiful new wife!

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

“You are the sum of the five people you hang around with the most.” I reflect on this statement frequently because I want to do a lot of things in my life and provide for the people I care about, and I can’t do that if I’m influenced by the wrong people.

If you could have a super power, what would it be?

Teleporting! It would be so great to travel without waiting in all those lines at the airport, or simply being able to come home after a long day at work without having to wait in traffic.

What is your favorite book or last good book you read?

I try to read one book each month. I recently enjoyed reading Never Split the Difference: Negotiating As If Your Life Depended On It by Chris Voss. Another one of my favorites is Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki.

What is your favorite local restaurant?

If it’s date day with Victoria, we love going to Hiro 88. My other favorite is Ajora Falls, an Ethiopian restaurant with one owner/employee named Tesfaye. It’s definitely a hidden gem—the food is absolutely incredible.
