Chris Thomas has always had an eye for design and drawing has been something he has always been good at and enjoyed. It was a natural fit for him to begin doing custom work and helping people design jewelry that is meaningful to them at the family business, AT Thomas. AT Thomas Jewelers has been open for 35 years in Lincoln. They strive to provide their customers with the highest quality jewelry at the most affordable prices. They hand select all styles in the store and make sure to keep a wide assortment of the latest trends and classic pieces in stock.
What has been your most important achievement professionally? – I am very proud of my design awards that I have received from the Independent Jewelers Organization as well as the JCK awards. They are meaningful since they are awards based on the votes of my peers.
Tell us a little about your family. – I have been blessed with a wife who is a super mom. She is good at everything I am not. It makes for a great pairing. We have two children who keep our lives interesting every day. Kiptara is 5, in Kindergarten and is active in dance, gymnastics, piano and soccer. She is our busy child. We also have a 1 year old – Braeden. He is a busy little boy who has a smile that could make any lady melt.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – The biggest turning point in my life was marrying my best friend. We got married in Hawaii and to this day I still remember how much fun we had and how relaxed our whole wedding experience was.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – I enjoy playing a round of golf.
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I would really like to swim with a whale shark.
What are you the most proud of? – Being a great husband and father.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – Have fun every day.
What is the one goal you would most like to accomplish? – I would like to raise two children who are happy, healthy and loving who are optimistic and enjoy life.
How would your friends describe you? – Funny, calm, and reliable.
What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – I am great at working with kids and teaching them (hockey).
Which talent would you most like to have? – Be able to catch the biggest fish in the lake every time.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? – I would be less of a perfectionist. It works out great for my customers–their jewelry is stunning–but I need more sleep. I work too many hours late at night.
