Panology Tech Solutions is a Lincoln, NE-based technology solutions firm, bringing IT Support and Cloud to small businesses. Darren Lichty is the owner of Panology Tech Solutions (panologyinc.com).
Tell us a little about your business.
Our focus on self-service solutions empowers the client to handle up to 90% of the things they encounter each day. This approach saves that business precious cash without sacrificing the technology that can help them excel.
How did you get started in the business?
After spending 13 years in telecommunications, I found myself back on the job market. Instead of jumping into another corporate job, I knew I had to take the opportunity to start my own consulting firm.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally?
Without a college degree, I have had to leverage every opportunity to build my skills and experience.
What has been your most important achievement professionally?
\Winning the respect of my peers through my commitment and dedication.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?
When I began working in telecommunications. This was at the dawn of the internet age (before broadband), and presented me with so many opportunities. I would not be where I am today had it not been for those opportunities.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?
Netflix & Chill. I don’t get too many days off, and I find this a great way to decompress.
What are you the most proud of?
We just celebrated 5 years in January. This is a pretty big milestone for a small business. While it is definitely not smooth sailing from here, it does show that we have built a business model that resonates with the local business community.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
You only fail when you give up trying.
If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be?
I have been working in technology for so long, I wouldn’t know what else to do. I did quite a bit of work in food service in my younger days though, so probably that one.
What is your favorite book or the last good book you read?
I have read so many great books. If I had to choose a favorite, it would have to be one from J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-Earth series. Though I wouldn’t be able to pick just one, as I have highly enjoyed the entire collection (and have read it multiple times).
What is your favorite TV show?
Currently it is The Walking Dead.
What is your favorite local restaurant?
There are far too many great restaurants in Lincoln to choose from. It really depends on what type of food I am in the mood for. For Chinese I really like Ichiban Sichuan, for Mexican I like Hacienda Real, and for and for wings it is always N-Zone.
If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be?
Douglas Adams, author of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and the Dirk Gently series. I have enjoyed everything he published. He also enjoyed tinkering with computers and making computer games. With his sense of humor, and our shared interests, I think it would be a fantastic experience.
