Tell us a little about your business. – Founded in 2009 by two founding families, Western National Bank (MyWNB.com) operates 11 branches across Nebraska and Kansas. The bank offers a comprehensive range of financial services, to both individuals and businesses. For businesses and farmers, the bank provides specialized commercial and agricultural loans, lines of credit, equipment financing and real estate loans.
How did you get started in the business? – My parents were among the founding members of Western National Bank, and I always knew that I would join the “family business.” However, I wanted to gain experience outside of banking. Right after college, I started in insurance and healthcare. I gained insights across industries, but I also realized my strengths, integrity, honesty, attention to detail, empathy and strong communication, were perfect for banking.
Tell us a little about your family. – I married my high school sweetheart, Madison, and together we’re raising four amazing kids—three boys: Drake (7), Chase (5), and Miles (3), and our newest addition, a baby girl named Logan, born in July.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Our son Chase became seriously ill at just four months old and was diagnosed with kidney failure, requiring numerous rounds of dialysis. We spent a month at Children’s Hospital in Omaha—one of the most difficult times Madison and I have ever faced. During that time, we leaned heavily on our parents and close friends, and it truly solidified just how important those relationships are in our lives.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – On a day off, I’d start by grabbing donuts for the kids before dropping them off at their grandparents for a fun morning. Then I’d sneak in a quick round of golf with Madison, pick the kids up, and head to the pool. After swimming, I’d fire up the grill for dinner and end the day with a movie and—hopefully—an easy bedtime!
What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – Growing up, every night before bed, my mom and dad would tuck my brother and me in and remind us of “the rules”: Listen, tell the truth, be nice and treat others the way you want to be treated. Those simple rules stuck with me—they became part of who I am.
Which talent would you most like to have? – If I could pick any talent to have for life, I’d love to be able to sing. My brother-in-law travels all over performing on cruise ships, and I can’t help but envy how comfortable he is singing.
What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? – My wife, Madison, and I have partnered with the Nebraska Community Blood Bank to host a blood drive in honor of Chase. “Chase’s Drive to Survive” has received nearly 200 pints of donated blood—an overwhelming reminder of the impact generous donors can have. We’re proud to be hosting our third blood drive on October 7, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will be held at either: Western National Bank or Hudl.
What is your favorite local Lincoln restaurant? – For any special occasion, my go-to restaurant is The Venue. You just can’t beat their Surf & Turf—it’s hands down my favorite on the menu!
