Deb Wagner has considered a career in real estate since she was in her 20s because of the flexibility and rewards for commitment.  When she met her current broker Gene Ward when she was working at Citygold.com, she was so impressed that when she got her license, she went directly there to work for him at Woods Bros.  As a Realtor with Woods Bros at the Lincolnshire office, Deb specializes in residential sales in Lincoln and surrounding areas.

Tell us about your family.
I’ve been married to my husband Mike for 27 years. He has two sons from a previous marriage. Pat and Katy live in Omaha and have Hailee, age 10, and Holden 1 ½., Todd lives between Lincoln and Alaska as he is quite an outdoorsman and free spirit! Our daughter Makaela is in Lincoln and has Adelynn who is soon to be 2 years old and a real light in my life. Mike has been a pilot with United Airlines for 21 years and I have had the privilege of traveling with him for “short visits” (26 hours) to places like Paris, Beijing, London, Amsterdam, etc.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?
Most definitely the passing of my son 24 years ago. At the age of 6 years, Jason was diagnosed with leukemia six months after Mike and I were married.  We lost him after 2 ½ years and it was a test of faith. That’s when I really began my “faith journey”. There is no way I could have made it otherwise and my faith is what drives me today.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?
Day off?!? I probably take short bursts and not a day. I love to walk, especially on the beautiful fall days we’ve been having! I have a beautiful grand piano that I enjoy. Having time to read is relaxing for me as well! Just some quiet time….

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?
I am a farmer/mechanic’s daughter and I grew up helping my dad irrigate his cornfield in the summers setting siphon tubes. Mud between my toes and all! My grandfather had hoped I would be a boy so I guess I somewhat lived up to that, climbing trees, etc.!

What are you the most proud of?
To be from a loving, caring family that has influenced my desire to share that with my friends and anyone in my life’s path.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
My mom taught me that no matter what it’s important to smile – makes a big difference in how you face the day.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life?
I have a creative side that I get to use in marketing or my approach to my work but I would like to do something like write children’s books (I have a vivid imagination!).

What is your favorite book?
I haven’t read lately but one book that comes to mind is The Shack.

What is your favorite movie?
Favorite movie can depend on my mood! For mindless entertainment I’ve watched Christmas Vacation over and over throughout the years. I really loved The King’s Speech. And when I want an escape, Under the Tuscan Sun.

What is your favorite restaurant?
La Paz

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be?
Mother Theresa – what an amazing, selfless woman.
