Tell us a little about your business. – EMO Flooring is a one-stop shop for tile, wood, vinyl, and wood floors. We have three designers on staff to help customers with all types of projects, whether it’s new construction, remodeling, or just residential updates. Customer service is our number one priority.
How did you get started in the business? – The owner William Richter laid floors for 30 years before opening EMO Flooring. I moved from Kansas City to help a small mom and pop store to the success that it is today.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Back in 2008 when the housing industry tanked, we had to change gears from being a builder focused business to a residential customer focused business.
What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Working my way to upper management positions in my past three jobs.
Tell us a little about your family. – My wife and I have been married for 20 years and we have an awesome 8 year old daughter. We also have two Labrador retrievers named Bogey and Newman.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – The day my daughter was born.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Golf.
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I ride a Harley and go to Sturgis often.
What are you the most proud of? – Just proud to have an awesome wife and child, they’re the best.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – Take care of your people and they will take care of you.
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Honest.
If you had a theme song, what would it be? – The Husker tunnel walk song!
If you could have a super power, what would it be? – To be invisible.
If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – I’d love to be a professional golfer.
What local non-profit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? – The Humane Society. I have always had pets and have a big heart for animals.
What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – The classic Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck.
What is your favorite movie? – Gladiator.
