A dynamic company in the telecommunications world, NebraskaLink is constructing a state-of-the-art fiber optic network through the state of Nebraska using both new and existing infrastructure.  NebraskaLink intends to provide community anchor institutions, enterprise business, and internet service providers with substantially upgraded services to meet their increasing broadband access needs. This will provide high quality, competitive carrier options to Nebraska businesses. Jay Anderson is an Account Executive for NebraskaLink.

Tell us a little about your business. – NebraskaLink is a Nebraska-owned and operated business that is building an advanced broadband infrastructure and bringing technology to every corner of the state and in between.  We deliver customer focused service and telecommunications products and strive to be valued partners to our customers.  It’s exciting to bring broadband opportunity to Nebraska, no matter how remote.

How did you get started in the business? – I was offered a job opportunity in my hometown with Huntel Systems.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Learning about all of the new technology and broadband services, which seem to change daily.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Providing advanced broadband services to rural businesses and schools.  It is rewarding to open up a whole new world of opportunity for others.

Tell us a little about your family. – I’m the proud father of two girls ages 20 and 14.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Becoming a single parent after the sudden loss of my wife.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Photography.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? –  I love studying state and local history.

What are you the most proud of? – Finishing college as a single parent.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – Always look for the positive in every situation.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Humorous.

If you had a theme song, what would it be? – The Green Acres theme song.

If you could have a super power, what would it be? – Predicting the future.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – Coaching and mentoring youth.

Which talent would you most like to have? – To be a gifted speaker.

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – Farming.  I love being outdoors and working with agriculture.

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – The Old Testament in the Bible is what I read last and it’s also one of my favorite books to read.

What is your favorite movie? – The National Treasure series.

What is your favorite local restaurant? – Anything Thai!

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – John Wayne.
