Walter’s Painting Inc. (walterspaintinginc.com) is comprised of a professional team of painters offering experienced services to both business and residential clients in the Lincoln region. Jeff Walters is the owner of Walter’s Painting Inc.
Tell us a little about your business.
We’re committed leaders in the residential and commercial painting industry. We also provide pressure washing services, making us your one-stop-shop for carrying out the most functional and impressive upgrades to either the interior or exterior of your property.
How did you get started in the business?
Whenever I couldn’t find something to do, it seemed like I could always find something to paint. I made this into a business in 1991.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally?
Retaining good people.
What has been your most important achievement professionally?
It took me about 15 years, but Walter’s Painting created its own professional craftsmen operational training materials.
Tell us a little about your family.
I have a fiancé named Jasmine who also works for the company.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?
I gave up drinking and drugs on October 6, 2001.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?
Jasmine and I enjoy relaxing with the dogs and watching movies.
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?
I was supposed to be an entertainer. I started at the age of 11 playing drums with a band. We we’re making $50 a night, which was a lot at that time. I thought I was going to make a career out of it.
Who inspires you?
Bob Seger. He’s got to be in his 70s, but he’s still living out his passion as a musician.
What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Sometimes the important has to give way to the urgent.
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be?
If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be?
I’m proud to say that I’m very happy where I am. I don’t have to wake up and go to work—I get to do something I love. I’m grateful for all of the clients I’ve had the chance to work with throughout the years.
What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why?
Northern Lighthouse Church does a lot of good work in the community.
What is your favorite book or the last good book you read?
QBQ! The Question Behind the Question, by John G. Miller. It’s about finding answers by knowing how to ask the right questions. The book also emphasizes the power of personal accountability. I apply a lot of the lessons I learned from this book in my business.

The Breakfast Club.
