Jennifer Jones became involved with Raising Cane’s when her husband, who had been working for Cane’s while in college, and she decided to move from Louisiana to Nebraska to open their own franchise location in 2006. In making such a great move, they both decided it would be best for them to work together as a team so that they could make their dream of owning a successful business a reality. Raising Cane’s is a niche restaurant concept that focuses on one thing-chicken fingers and doing it better than anyone else can. Jennifer and her husband have set out to make positive changes in the community and in 2010 they donated over $38,000 back to the Lincoln community.
Tell me a little about your family.
My husband, Justin, and I have been married 7 years. He is truly supportive in everything I do and is always pushing me to be the best person I can be. We have two wonderful children, John David who is almost 4 years old and Ella who is 6 months old. Having children has been one of the most rewarding experiences and always reminds me to take joy in everyday life events.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?
Moving with my husband to Lincoln, leaving all of our family and friends, and coming to a city where we knew no one but ourselves. We took a chance in starting a new business together and although this was not easy, it definitely made us a very strong and united couple in many different aspects.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?
Spending time with my family and friends. I love cooking and baking, and although I have not done this in years, I do enjoy painting.
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?
I come from a large family, being one of seven children. This is probably where my need for order and organization comes from. I am very good at “keeping the peace” and a great listener-also something I attribute to being in a large family.
What are you the most proud of?
I am most proud of my husband and children, and the difference that we have been able to make in our community through our restaurant. In 2010, we donated over $38,000 back to the community and have been able to be a part of many events.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Live every day to the fullest, we never know what tomorrow may bring.
How would your friends describe you?
A great listener and motivator. Always someone you can rely on to be there and help however I can.
What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life?
I really enjoy planning and organizing parties; everything from selecting/designing invitations, planning a menu, decorating, and entertaining.
Which talent would you most like to have?
I would love to be able to sing well. I sing to my children a lot and I am pretty sure they would appreciate that too!
What is your favorite book or the last good book you read?
Just finished The Help by Kathryn Stockett
What is your favorite TV show?
I do unfortunately admit I really enjoy The Real Housewives series on Bravo.
What is your favorite Lincoln restaurant?
Raising Cane’s of course. I do also enjoy Venue.
