Tell us a little about your business.

As a full service electrical contractor, we can work on residential, commercial, and industrial systems. We are a small team but we all share the same expectations; we strive to provide the best craftsmanship and quality products to our customers. I have worked for other companies in the past but have found my home at Oak Electric, Inc.

How did you get started in the business?

When I was 22, I found myself at a turning point in my life and knew it was time to settle down and find a career path to follow. I had a few friends in the trade and had a lot of interest in what they were doing. So I reached out to the school that they were enrolled in and started my apprenticeship training. Right away I knew that I found my calling. I love my job and look forward to the daily challenges, troubleshooting and problem solving.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally?

Over Labor Day weekend, I broke my leg. One surgery, five screws, and a plate later and I’m on leave for three months. I’m going crazy; I belong in the field. But, lucky for me, I have the best bosses and friends around. They have all gone above and beyond to help me out and keep me involved as much as possible. I plan to make the best of my time off and am looking into some continuing education classes. Things are always changing in this industry and I enjoy keeping up and staying sharp.

What has been your most important achievement professionally?

So far, that would be passing my Journeyman Electrical Exam…on the first try!

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?

If I take a day off, it is usually to go racing. I am part of a sprint car race team and it’s something I love to do. The racetrack is where you can find me every weekend during the summer and some weekdays too. My race team is like a second family.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be?

Loyal.

If you could have a super power, what would it be?

I agree with my boss on this one, the ability to clone. If we could have another one of each of us on the team, we could probably do 10 times the work!

What local non-profit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why?

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). The race team I belong to has participated in several fundraising events over the years. It feels so good to be able to give back to the community. After I joined Oak Electric, Inc, I soon discovered that the company is also a strong supporter of JDRF!

What is your favorite local restaurant?

I’d have to say Bison Witches; I have loved that place since the first time I tried it.
