In 1993 when Larry Holmes’ mother needed to sell her home, Larry figured he might as well be the one to represent her and went to school to get his real estate license.  This led him to start a RE/MAX Real Estates Concepts branch in Lincoln in 2009.  The real estate office began with four agents and has grown to 22.  RE/MAX Lincoln is locally owned with a national presence.  They currently have two locations on 70th and Pioneers and 29th and Pine Lake.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Helping start a real estate company.  Even with the brand of RE/MAX behind you, starting any company is very challenging.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Opening a second office that is state-of-the-art. And knowing that our design helps our agents connect and provide outstanding service for great people in Lincoln and their customers.

Tell me a little about your family. – I was born and raised in Lincoln by a single mom, with four older sisters.  Valerie is my wife of 16 years.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Making the decision to start a real estate company.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Full days off are hard to come by, but I like to ride my Harley, watch sports, hike or camp.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I’m an Eagle Scout and the Scoutmaster of the troop I earned it in.  So I’ve been in the same troop for 33 years now.

What are you the most proud of? – The difference that I’ve made in other people’s lives. Whether it’s the 80 men whom I have helped earn their Eagles, or the agents whom I’ve helped make a better life for them and their families, or all the buyers and sellers I’ve help with their transactions.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – If you do what you love for a living, you’ll never work a day in your life.

What is the one goal you would most like to accomplish? – To continue providing a great culture at work and never compromise long term goals for a few quick bucks.

How would your friends describe you? – As someone who would give the shirt off his back to help them.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – No one ever asks me to juggle (multi-task yes, juggle no).

Which talent would you most like to have? – To play the piano or guitar.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? – Being more physically fit.  I walk nearly an hour a day but dread it, so I wish I enjoyed it more.

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – Crushing It! by Gary Vanerchuck or Energy Bus by Jon Gordon; I love them both.

What is your favorite movie? – Star Wars or Back to the Future

What is your favorite TV show? – Suits on USA but enjoy mystery/police shows.

What is your favorite Lincoln restaurant? – Carmela’s Bistro & Wine.  We have a lot of great independent restaurant choices.

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – William D Boyce.  He is the one who brought Boy Scouts to America in 1910.
