Tell us a little about your business. – McKinney’s Irish Pub (Lincoln.McKinneysPub.com) has continued to be my all time favorite place to go to ever since I moved here three years ago. It stood out to me just like to everyone else by being covered head to toe in memories drawn on dollar bills by just about anyone who has visited. You get to leave your mark forever and you get to create memories with the people you love that you’ll never forget. Not only do we have an incredible vibe but we pride ourselves in our amazing food and drinks but nowhere is fun without all three. Fortunately we provide a level of service you can’t get anywhere else, we treat our staff and our customers just like family.

How did you get started in the business? – I moved here three years ago all the way from Florida and people continue to ask me the jarring question of “why Nebraska?” Every time I answer I somehow also wonder the same thing. As someone who has lived in four different states now, for some reason Nebraska is the place I chose to be. There are a million reasons why I decided to stay but a very big one is my success here, I kept finding myself in bigger opportunities to rise. I found my work ethic here and I have continued to see myself grow as a person. It took me a long time to find a place and career I was passionate about. I started working at some other places to gain good experience but I always wanted to be a part of McKinney’s. There was an opening and I saw my opportunity and took it, I worked my way to be an incredibly reliable employee. After a year of working extremely hard and showing the owners just how much I cared about this business I was able to become the Bar Manager. In two years time I was able to show them even more and was promoted to General Manager. Getting into this career path was definitely the best decision I could’ve made for myself and I am extremely proud to be a part of McKinney’s Irish Pub.

What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any reasons why? – Every year McKinney’s partners with Clinic with a Heart to gather donations for this extremely important organization. The last two years I was able to be a part of our Golf Tournament that brings tons of people together that can give donations and learn more about the community. I was able to meet Dr. Rhodes and hearing him be so passionate about what he started was beautiful. Having free healthcare for people who are uninsured and underinsured brings a huge impact to our community. There is nothing I wish more for than free healthcare for everyone around the world. There are too many people that are unfortunately affected by the lack of care our government has for low income families and people. Being able to contribute to this organization has meant so much to me knowing that they can continue to provide to our community.

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – I would choose Miley Cyrus every single time. When I was 10 years old, I saw Miley Cyrus at a concert in VIP for my birthday. It was not only a core memory but the most amazing moment of my life. She is and will always be an icon and an inspiration to everyone. Growing up I watched Hannah Montana religiously and I always wanted to be just like her, throw a wig on and be a completely different person who had these insane vocals. It’s incredible to see where she has started and now who she is, she is amazing.
