Meet Lindsey Tederman, owner of Charm Boutique & Bar.

Tell us a little about your business. – Charm Boutique & Bar (www.charmchix.com) is just that—a clothing boutique with a bar! We have a full bar open for shoppers who might want to sip while shopping. We are located in the Telegraph District near downtown.

How did you get started in the business? – I opened a small town boutique in Gothenburg, NE in 2013. It is still open, although in a smaller location currently. I then opened another one in North Platte and now am excited to start the newest adventure in the capital city with champagne in hand!

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Knowing and adapting to the changing buying habits . How do you get individuals into a brick and mortar shop when they have the luxury and convenience of online shopping? What new experience can you give them?

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Before I got into the boutique business, I was a journalist. I was named the editor at the Clipper-Herald in Lexington, NE.

Tell us a little about your family. – I have two wonderful kids, a 14-year-old son named Boone and an 11-year-old daughter named Bodey. I have a wonderful boyfriend named Jeremy from Lincoln who helped inspire me to open this boutique. He has three kids, who have become an important part of my life too.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – I love my tight-knit group of friends, who I strive really hard to spend time with. I also am very involved with my kids and volunteering for all of their activities.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I started off my journalism career right after college in Fayetteville, NC, where I also got a job as an afternoon radio personality.

Who inspires you? – My parents. Both are educators. Their calling is to serve others and they always put those in need before themselves.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – What is right isn’t always popular, and what is popular isn’t always right.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Kind.

If you had a theme song, what would it be? – Cheesy but, “I’m A Survivor” by Destiny’s Child.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – I can handle a basketball pretty well!

Which talent would you most like to have? – Either public speaking or being more tech-savvy.

What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? – I’ve become more aware of CEDARS. I’m close with several families who I admire that have foster children, which have led to adoption. Giving kids a loving home is one of the most important things an adult can give a child.

What is your favorite TV show? – Schitt’s Creek.

What is your favorite local restaurant? – I love Lazlo’s!

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – Janis Joplin. I did a biography paper on her in high school, and I’ve always thought she was a cultural changer.
