Tell us a little about your business. – The Back Nine Lincoln South (thebackninegolf.com/lincoln-ne-south) is Lincoln’s premiere Indoor golf and event destination. We have four luxury bays, including a private bay with exclusive access to premiere members and their guests, all featuring top-of-the-line Full Swing simulators. Members enjoy 24/7 access. Tee times are available to the public. Our space is available for small group or up to 50 people for the entire facility. Being a PGA Professional, I offer personalized instruction and group clinics, using advanced analytics and feedback to help improve your game, whether you’re looking to fine tune or brand new. I can also fit you for the right golf ball and clubs.

How did you get started in the business? – Jason, the owner, has a lifelong love for both Husker football and golf. Those have two main things in common: they both provide a sense of community, whether it’s the 85,000 friends at Memorial Stadium, the new friends you were paired with or the group you enjoy time with at golf league. He found himself, at the end of the season, trying to fill the void and waiting for the next golf season and Husker football season to start. It’s a long, cold winter without his passions. He wanted to find a way to bring that community to Lincoln all year round. The Back Nine is the perfect fit. We provide a place to enjoy golf and that sense of community. No more waiting for spring for golf.

Tell us a little about your family. – We’re the Person’s – a proud family of 4, if you include our dog! There’s Jacey, my wife, our 1-year-old son, Oakley, and Daisy Mae, our rescue dog. Jacey is a hairstylist and the owner of Oake + Mane Salon.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Meeting my wife. Nothing has changed my life more. I was a much different person before meeting her—had no real ambition, was content with the life I had but wasn’t truly happy.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Going on long walks/hikes with my family and our dog, or doing projects around the house/yard.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I spent two years building custom Sport Fishing Yachts while living in North Carolina.

Who inspires you? – My Grandpa, Jim Person. He has been a prominent, consistent figure in my life. He was the one who taught me how to golf! He took me to the driving range as soon as I could walk to teach me the game of golf.

What is your favorite quote? – “It’s better to have and not need, than need and not have.”

If you had a theme song, what would it be? – “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” by Frank Sinatra.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily life? – My ear for music. I really enjoy playing and listening to music.

What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? – The Nebraska PGA Section of PGA Hope and PGA Reach.

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – The Big Miss by Hank Haney.

What is your favorite movie? – Miracle (Miracle on Ice, 1980 Olympics).
