Meet Nancy Salmonson, property manager and portfolio supervisor for Chantacleer Residences, a Krueger Development property.

Tell us a little about your business. – We are a premier, family-owned, Lincoln-based residential property management company. We have five class-A communities in the city of Lincoln, and one of these communities is a 55+ property. We are continuing to grow. Our managers and maintenance team truly care about our residents, and it shows. The owners are local and that makes all the difference! They understand what the people in Lincoln want and they go above and beyond to create a living environment that draws people to us.

How did you get started in the business? – I ran across an ad for a leasing consultant position when I was living in the Metro Detroit Area back in 2007. I was not at all familiar with this industry; however, I have always worked in customer service and it sounded like a great opportunity. I was hired and have been at it, ever since.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – In this industry we have challenges daily; but I have learned to look at these challenges as an opportunity to grow and become a stronger person for it.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Getting my Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) designation and taking on the role of portfolio supervisor with Krueger Development. This was a challenging process that taught me so much. Having the CAM designation has really enhanced my performance and understanding of the property management business. Taking on the role of portfolio supervisor has affirmed that I have found my niche.

Tell us a little about your family. – I have two children: one daughter and one son. They both live in Arizona with their families. I have two grandsons and two grand babies on the way.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – I moved away from Lincoln in 1985. I lived in several different states over the course of my time away. I decided to move back to Lincoln in 2017; so, it would be making the move back to Lincoln from Michigan after being away for 32 years.

Who inspires you? – My coworkers do. They amaze and inspire me every day. It is so rewarding to work with such a talented group of people.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – When the day is getting the best of you, keep this in mind: “Not my circus, not my monkeys.” It works every time.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Inspiring.

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – A property management attorney. I really love the legal side of this business; it is everchanging and I find it fascinating. Understanding the legal aspects of this industry is empowering and incredibly important.

What is your favorite movie? – I enjoy the movie Fried Green Tomatoes, but I also love The Help.

What is your favorite local restaurant? – The Isles Pub & Pizza in Havelock. They have the best pizza, by far, and an amazing staff!!
