Tell us a little about your business.

REGA Engineering, now licensed in 12 states, specializes in engineering and surveying services. As a full-service civil engineering firm, REGA offers experience in residential land development, commercial site development, ALTA Survey’s, Floodplain Development and Landscape Architecture. REGA’s multi-state experience has helped us grow in our knowledge and problem solving abilities. Recently, REGA joined with I-eng-A to become equipped to do forensic engineering through the State of Nebraska.

How did you get started in the business?

After graduating with my master’s degree at UNL, I was hired at REGA in 2011. It has been a great adventure over the past 10 years and I have enjoyed the variety of projects we have worked on.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally?

Learning to communicate in all different types of relationships (client, consultants, city staff, etc.) especially in a digital age.

What has been your most important achievement professionally?

Becoming a licensed professional engineer. It has challenged me to grow in my knowledge of engineering and opened doors to projects in Kansa, New Mexico, Nebraska, and soon Minnesota.

Tell us a little about your family.

I’ve been married to my wife Rachel for 10 years. We are celebrating the newest addition to our family, Felicity Burnett. She was born on January 2 of this year and has three loving sisters and two brothers.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?

Marrying my wife Rachel. She has been my biggest supporter. We’ve walked through a lot in the 10 years we’ve been married and she has been a great friend.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?

Hanging out with the family.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

“I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.” – Charles Swindoll

If you could have a super power, what would it be?

To make our six kids sleep through the night…haha.

Which talent would you most like to have?

Automotive repair skills.

What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why?

Rachel and I serve as the directors of worship and production at Crossroads Church. Rachel is an amazing singer, and I play drums typically twice a month. We are really excited about many talented youth we’ve worked with who are starting to serve on the team. Not only have we helped in their musical talents, but it is also fun to help them grow in their understanding of Jesus Christ.

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read?

The Bible. It helps me fix my mind on eternal things not the temporal we so often worry about.

What is your favorite TV show?

What is your favorite local restaurant?

Lazlo’s. I really enjoy their prime rib enchiladas.
