Tell us a little about your business. – New View Training (newviewtraining.com) provides CPR/AED, First Aid, BLS, ACLS, PALS and safety training throughout Nebraska. With locations in Omaha and Lincoln, we work with healthcare professionals, businesses, caregivers, schools and community members. Our goal is simple: we want people to leave training confident that they can help when it matters.
How did you get started in the business? – New View Training was founded by Bethany, and I came into the business as it was growing. My role grew right along with it, eventually expanding into operations, client relationships, scheduling, systems, marketing and business development. I discovered that I really love taking an idea or a problem and figuring out how to make it work.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Learning how to pivot. I came from a property management background and moved into an industry I knew very little about. I had to trust that the business skills I had developed could translate into a completely different field. I’ve learned that I don’t necessarily need to be the expert in everything, I need to understand what the business needs, adapt and use my strengths to help it grow. That ability to pivot has probably been one of the biggest challenges, but also one of the most rewarding parts of my career.
What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Helping take New View Training to its next level of growth. I came into this industry without a healthcare background, but I knew business. Being able to use that experience to help grow our team, build better systems, expand into Lincoln and create new opportunities for New View has been incredibly rewarding. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished, but I’m probably most excited about how much potential I still see for where we can go.
Tell us a little about your family. – My family is a huge part of my life. My husband, Shane, and I have two boys, Kamden and Connor. They have had a front-row seat to all of my crazy ideas, late nights, business conversations and “I have one more thing to finish” moments. They keep me grounded, make me laugh and are a huge part of why I work as hard as I do.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – An unexpected career change that gave me the opportunity to start fresh. After spending years in property management, I found myself figuring out what was next and eventually stepping into a completely different industry. Looking back, that change pushed me outside of my comfort zone and helped me realize how adaptable I really am. Sometimes the path you didn’t plan for ends up being exactly where you’re supposed to be.
If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – Something involving business development, marketing or helping small businesses grow. I love seeing potential in something and then figuring out how to turn that potential into something real.
What is your favorite TV show? – Shark Tank.
What is your favorite local Lincoln restaurant? – So Far, Granite City.
