Tell us a little about your business.

At SP Group, we provide tax planning, tax preparation, business startup services, estate and trust preparation, QuickBooks support and training, payroll setup and reporting, business entity selection, IRS representation, and assurance services. I love the fun, competitive team culture that we’ve fostered at our company.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally?

The entire year of 2020 was incredibly difficult for a multitude of reasons—starting back in March with the extension of tax season to July 15, the uncertainty of the economy, the several government assistance programs that came out, the world being affected by a global pandemic…just to name a few. As a firm we really took pride in staying ahead of the curve and educating ourselves on everything that Congress was doing to help small business owners which are the majority of our clients. One of the biggest pieces was the Paycheck Protection Program loans that came out in April and it seemed that the rules regarding it changed every single day for about two months straight, so staying on top of everything and keeping our clients updated and in the best position to get through the pandemic was incredibly important to us, and took a lot of hard work by everyone here.

Tell us a little about your family.

I grew up in Lincoln and have lived here my entire life and absolutely love it. I have an older brother, Tyler, who is a successful realtor here in Lincoln. His wife Mikaela is a registered nurse. My mom was a speech pathologist with LPS for 30-plus years, and my dad started and owned Reynolds Design & Remodeling for over 30 years. My brother and I grew up working with him, which instilled the meaning and value of hard work and showed us what it took to own and manage a business. Even though he is now retired, my dad and I still like to do some side projects together flipping houses to keep him busy.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?

I love to golf. Any excuse to get out on the course, I will take. I enjoy playing new courses I’ve never played. I like to travel as well but obviously that’s a little more difficult lately…

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?

I am fluent in Spanish. I might be a little rusty right now but can still get by! I lived in Granada, Spain for nearly a year while in college and it was one of the best experiences of my life. I would love to go back as soon as possible once this pandemic is over.

Who inspires you?

My dad has been the biggest inspiration by far. I’ve watched and learned from him my entire life and it has shaped who I am. One of the biggest compliments I’ve ever received was someone telling me that I reminded them of him.

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be?

I wouldn’t mind being in the NBA.

What is your favorite movie?

Braveheart or Gladiator.

What is your favorite local restaurant?

MoMo Pizzeria & Ristorante.
