Tell us a bit about your business.

As a top REALTOR® working in Lincoln and surrounding areas, I have the privilege to help buyers and sellers to do just that: buy and sell residential and commercial property. I am humbled as I started in real estate professionally about nine years ago when I was at the end of one career and searching for the next. Real estate was a natural fit for me. I enjoy the flexible schedule; one that goes into the evenings and weekends when buyers and sellers are wanting to search for homes.

How did you get started in the business?

A long time ago, back in 1982, my family had a REALTOR® named Shirly Hinkle with ReMax. Shirly encouraged me to consider real estate as a career—she must have seen some qualities in me that would make for a great REALTOR®, such as being a people person, having confidence, and the ability to advise well. I decided to start with Nebraska Home Sales (which has now changed to a Coldwell Banker NHS Real Estate). Since then, a few other top agents have taken me under their wing and showed me the ropes. This was a great time of professional growth. I got to stand on the shoulders of these local real estate giants and learn from their experience. Now, I get to do the same and help new agents become successful.

Tell us a bit about your family.

My family consists of my wife Christine, who is also a licensed REALTOR® and works for Coldwell Banker NHS Real Estate in the role of staff support. We are dog parents to Harley and Beau, both Boston Terriers. If the dogs had opposable thumbs and could type, they would be working as REALTORS® too, as they have listened in and been attentive to all the client needs these last many years.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life?

Woodworking is a craft I’ve taken on, and it’s another profession I would be excited to pursue. My first job out of high school was as an apprentice to a master carpenter here in Lincoln. The shop where I worked was full of talented guys who shared their knowledge with me. They produced custom cabinets, trim, shelving, and wooden furniture using traditional tools. I learned a lot about woodcraft, the design, making, and finishing of period furniture and decor. I love the process of making things by hand. This actually inspired me to earn a degree in interior design from the College of Architecture at UNL. My experience in woodworking and design is valuable to my buyer clients when we walk through houses, as I can advise on how a home is put together and if the work was done well.
