Ben Petersen is a Physical Therapist at Husker Rehab (huskerrehab.com).

Tell us a little about your business. – Husker Rehab has been in Lincoln since 1999. We have two locations in Lincoln, as well as clinics in Nebraska City, Beatrice, and Fairbury. We offer comprehensive postural treatments to restore your body’s proper alignment and function. Husker Rehab also offers pre and post operative care, women’s health therapy, occupational therapy, dry needling, a wellness program for independent exercise, blood flow restriction training, vertigo treatment (BPPV), and balance training.

How did you get started in the business? – I got started in physical therapy 20 years ago after graduating from the University of Iowa. I have worked in the outpatient setting that entire time. My interest was first piqued when I was young and dealing with knee problems. Therapy helped me and I wanted to be able to do the same for others.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Dealing with insurance companies is always a challenge!

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Really just helping people every day to get back to the things that they need and love to do.

Tell us a little about your family. – My wife, Amy, and I have been married for 16 years. She is a nurse. We have two boys, Miles (14) and Corbin (10). We stay busy with their activities, including basketball, track, and orchestra. We also love to visit the national parks and hike as a family.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – When we had our children. Everything changed after that!.. But in a good way.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – I like to spend time with my family on a day off. We try to do something fun or get out of town for a change of scenery. We enjoy going fishing, going for a hike, or playing ball.

Who inspires you? – My grandpa. He’s been gone for several years but he was a humble, hardworking, family-oriented man. I’ve always admired how he approached life with a good attitude. I do my best to follow his path.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right.” – Henry Ford
It reminds me to always believe in myself and keep the right mindset.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Dedicated.

Which talent would you most like to have? – I wish I could hit a golf ball straight! I wouldn’t mind being able to play the drums either.

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – Either a park ranger or a veterinarian.

What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? – I am involved with United Way of Lincoln, as they raise money for local nonprofits and help to build a strong local community.

What is your favorite local Lincoln restaurant? – Blue Orchid.
