Meet Kyle Bauer, Foreman at Luxury Landscape (luxurylandscape-llc.com).
Tell us a little about your business. – We are a full landscape company specializing in patios, retaining walls and updating water features and dated landscapes.
How did you get started in the business? – For five and a half years, I was in the restaurant industry. I needed a change for my family, so I applied for a labor job in landscaping – which was 11 years ago.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – The ability to advance farther than a foreman.
What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Moving from laborer into a lead foreman role as well as passing my ICPI and SRW classes.
Tell us a little about your family. – I’ve got three children with my ex-wife; one boy (Kaden) and two girls (Amya and Lexi). I’m currently engaged and have a puppy named Oreo.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Getting sober and living a clean and happy life.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Relax at home or go on an adventure with my fiancé.
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – My junior year of high school, I was awarded a scholarship from Metro Omaha Builder’s Association because of my construction tech class.
Who inspires you? – All my coworkers inspire me to be a great leader and also to be a teacher.
What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – Sobriety is a journey, not a destination. I also like the K.I.S.S. acronym: Keep It Simple Stupid.
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Determined.
If you could have a super power, what would it be? – Super-human strength.
What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – Giving my crew more opportunity to do certain tasks or explaining things clearer.
Which talent would you most like to have? – The ability to dance.
What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – Something by James Patterson or John Grisham.
What is your favorite movie? – Gone in 60 Seconds.
What is your favorite TV show? – Anything about history.
