Meet Melissa Reinsch, VP of Deposit Services at Lincoln Federal Savings Bank (lincolnfed.com).
Tell us a little about your business. – I work for an amazing Lincoln-based bank. My expertise is in retail banking where we focus on meeting our customers’ checking account needs and helping them reach their savings goals. The communities that we serve are so important to us – I’m lucky to work with deposit professionals across the state to help our customers achieve their goals.
How did you get started in the business? – I started working on the teller line at Lincoln Federal Savings Bank 24 years ago. At that time, banking wasn’t really a career I had considered but it was a great way to learn about the banking world. I loved it and it was the first step that led me to my current position.
Tell us a little about your family. – I have been married to my husband Aaron for 22 years. We have two sons. Aidan is 19 years old and a sophomore at UNL. Isaac is 15 years old and a sophomore at Lincoln Northstar. Our furry family member is Koda, a seven- year-old Shiba Inu.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – There are few, but the most obvious is when I had my first child. It made my priorities clear in a way that I didn’t have before I had children.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – A great day off includes sitting on my deck with a cup of hot coffee and a good book, taking a long run and spending time with my family and friends.
Who inspires you? – Seeing my children navigate their worlds with kindness and confidence inspires me. They challenge my thinking on a daily basis!
What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – A mentor once told me to go into the bathroom at the end of the day, wash my hands and leave the work stress at the door on my way out. I think of that on occasions when I need to find more balance in my life.
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Loyal.
If you could have a super power, what would it be? – I would love be able to teleport. I love to travel but getting to and from a faraway destination is not my favorite way to spend a day.
Which talent would you most like to have? – I really admire artists of any kind. I would love to have the ability to draw.
If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – Probably some sort of a therapist. I think it’s really interesting and valuable to understand why we do the things we do and how to make changes that can benefit our life.
What is your favorite TV show? – The Righteous Gemstones.
What is your favorite local Lincoln restaurant? – It’s hard to choose, but The Oven and Mazatlan are favorites. I’ve enjoyed many great meals with family and friends at each of these.
If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – My grandmother, Dorothy, who passed away many years ago. She raised 12 children and taught me many life lessons. She always gave me good brutally honest advice, whether I wanted to hear it or not!
