Tell us a little about your business.

Krueger Development is a locally-owned and established property development and management company in Lincoln. I help individuals find the apartment that best suits their needs, while insuring all our residents continue to love living at The Mirada. Amongst your typical apartment amenities, we have a convertible indoor/outdoor swimming pool and hot tub that is open year-round. It’s hard not to love where you live at The Mirada, which makes my job very enjoyable!

How did you get started in the business?

My husband and I moved to Tampa, FL in 2001. After working for Amigos for 17 years, I wanted to make a career change, and I thought property management would be a good transition from restaurant management. After eight years in Tampa, I was transferred to Charlotte, NC for a few years, before moving back to Lincoln in 2016.

Tell us a little about your family.

I am a Nebraska gal, born and raised. I grew up in Shelby, NE with one sister. My husband and I currently live in Lincoln with our two fur babies, Lucy who is a pug Pekingese mix and Dixie who is a pug Jack Russell mix.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?

I received a cancer diagnosis in 2015. It was because of this diagnosis that we decided to come back home to Nebraska. Nebraska is where we truly love to be—our families are here, our friends are here, Nebraska is home. Being diagnosed made me take a different look at life. When you’re not sure how long your life is going to be, it makes you want to be closer to family; closer to what matters. I don’t sweat the small stuff anymore. I enjoy every moment and live more in the moment then I ever did before. I’ve become a more grateful person because of it all.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

“Yesterday is a memory, tomorrow is a dream, and today is a present.”

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be?

Kind.

If you could have a super power, what would it be?

Omnilingualism, which is to have the ability to speak ANY language.

What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why?

I am extremely passionate about the belief that if you want to own a pet, you should “adopt, don’t shop.” Our two dogs are rescues from a program we worked with while living in Charlotte. This led me to get involved with the Lincoln Human Society once we moved back to Nebraska.

What is your favorite TV show?

Law & Order. That could be Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Law & Order: Criminal Intent…pretty much Law & Order anything.

What is your favorite local restaurant?

Venue Restaurant & Lounge.
