Tell us a little about your business.Bombshell (BombShellSalonSuites.com) is a salon located in the heart of Lincoln at 48th and Pioneers. We are a suites concept salon, meaning every renter has their own unique space. We recently just added the viral Halo Head spa to our salon, and everyone has loved the relaxation and the scalp benefits that come from it. YOU have to try it out if you haven’t already!

How did you get started in the business? – I have been doing hair for 23+ years. I have always loved doing hair and was blessed with the gift of gab, so I graduated high school and started hair school the very next month! The rest is history!

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – I think the biggest challenge in this industry is juggling parenthood and schedule changes while simultaneously trying to keep my clients on their regular appointment times.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Hands down my biggest achievement in my career is opening my own salon! But a close second is taking the chance and opening the Halo Head Spa.

Tell us a little about your family. – I have two great kiddos who keep me busy with all of their activities. I love being their mama and being their taxi for all the things!

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – On my day off, you can find me spending time with my kiddos at their activities, at the lake or pool, or a concert!

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – Oh. that’s a good one! I was the lead singer of a band here in Lincoln for one month! But they decided I sounded “too country.” It was so much fun!

Who inspires you? – I am surrounded by the best group of girlfriends who get me though life every day. I’m not sure I could do life without them. Each one inspires me in her own way.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – “Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.” -Marilyn Monroe

If you had a theme song, what would it be? – I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – Singing! Although most of my guests know I love to sing and have more than likely heard me belt out a tune a time or two.

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – Interior designer /decorator

What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? – Bombshell Salon Suites was heavily involved with St Baldrick’s for 10 years. We shaved heads to raise money for childhood cancer. I have a cousin who lost her son to brain cancer and got involved in any way I could.

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – Untamed by Glennon Doyle

What is your favorite local Lincoln restaurant? – Copal! It’s located right downstairs from the salon, and I can smell the deliciousness every day. I admittedly probably eat there too much….but it’s worth it.

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – Marilyn Monroe —I’ve always been drawn to her. And a fun fact; I named the salon after a tv show called “Bombshell” that was all about Marilyn Monroe!
