After working for Sprint PCS for their wireless telecommunication build in Nebraska and Iowa, Travis Sondgeroth and his partners decided to start their own wireless telecommunication construction company.  Because there are peaks and valleys to that market if you want to stay fairly local, they decided to add an underground utility division to the company.  As the company has gotten older, they continue to add divisions to fill voids in the construction industry as the market dictates.  Started in 2001, K2 Construction is a fairly diversified company.  It provides construction services in the fields of underground utility installation, wireless telecommunication construction and consulting, residential and commercial geothermal installation, directional boring, hydro-excavation and concrete structures and flatwork.

Tell us a little about your family.
I have been married to my wife Tina for 12 years.  We have two children, Emma (11) and Drew (9), both of whom attend Waverly Intermediate School.  Tina is a clinical instructor at SCC and works at the Tabitha location two quarters out of the year so she can be home with the kids in the summer.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?
My father was a career soldier so we lived all over the world while I grew up. As an example, I lived in Louisiana in 7th grade, Kansas in 8th grade, California in 9th grade, Turkey in 10th/11th grade and graduated high school in Maryland.  I think that this type of lifestyle molds you as a person.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?
I enjoy golfing, fishing, hunting and camping.  My family recently bought a little acreage south of Waverly and we will begin building our home this month, so I don’t really foresee any of those things taking place for quite a while.

What are you the most proud of?
I am most proud of my faith, my family and my company.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
You cannot drink champagne on a beer budget and the harder you work, the luckier you get.  I have to attribute both of those nuggets of wisdom to my father.

What is the one goal you would most like to accomplish?
With the help of my wife, I would like to raise two responsible children that turn into adults that love their family, their country, their friends and their Lord.

How would your friends describe you?
My friends would describe me as funny, witty, outgoing and always willing to lend a hand to those who need help.

Which talent would you most like to have?
I would love to be able to sing.  My wife and children sing great.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I would like to take things that are not very important less serious.  I tend to get caught up in the moment rather then looking at the overall importance of the incident in the big picture.

What is your favorite movie?
A few of mine were Forrest Gump, Vacation, Braveheart and The Patriot.

What is your favorite TV show?
Sadly I am a reality TV show closet junkie.  I enjoy Swamp People, Axe Men, The Simpsons and Family Guy.

What is your favorite Lincoln restaurant?
Kinja

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be?
Jesus Christ
