How did you get started in the business? – After home staging for four years and being in client’s homes, I noticed the need for creativity with unique changes to inspire homeowners. Many people asked me, “Where did you get your inventory?” And with some prompting from my husband, we got the ball rolling to open a store. At first, the store was just my personal inventory that I brought in. But once it was sold, I found it hard to get new merchandise into the store. It was my husband who came up with the idea to have a consignment shop. I’m so thankful I have him to support me!
Tell me a little about your family. – I’m married to Craig Hundt. We have 5 children—four boys and one girl. My daughter, Katie, works at the store as Retail Manager.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Gardening and mowing (yes, I love to mow!). I always feel accomplished when I see my lawn looking nice and manicured. When I have more than one day off consecutively, one of my favorite things to do is travel with my family. Every summer we go out to Lake of the Ozarks and relax with each other. It’s practically our other home!
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I was born and raised in the Mississippi Delta on butterbeans, cornbread, okra, and fried catfish.
What are you the most proud of? – My family and my Southern roots.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – From my grandmother: “Never hold a grudge, burn bridges, or pull too many weeds in one day!” My grandmother is a huge inspiration to me and always has been. She’s from Mississippi, 97 years old, and still going strong!
If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – Landscape Design. I absolutely love being outside.
Which talent would you most like to have? – To make a delicious meal for my family in 15 minutes or less!
If you could have a super power, what would it be? – To fly.
What is your favorite movie? – The Sound of Music. I definitely have a weakness for musicals.
What is your favorite TV show? – Chopped. Food Network is my favorite!
What is your favorite local restaurant? – Venue! My favorite lunch dish is their Pecan Bleu Salad with Hungarian Wild Mushroom Soup. THE BEST!
