Incentive programs are not a new thing. Companies worldwide have been trying to come up with new and different ways to incentivize their employees to sell more, do more, make more money. John Henry’s is no different…well…actually, we are. It may sound like bragging, and maybe it is, but hey, we’re proud of this! We get so many compliments for our employees from our customers, we wanted to make sure that not only the employee and their boss knows it, that everyone knows it. This is how the ‘Link Program’ came to be. In January, when we have our Annual Holiday Party, we will be rewarding our employees for the 4th year in a row for their willingness to go above and beyond so much that our customers and fellow employees notice it and acknowledge it!

The idea behind the Link Program is that each one of the compliments and praises we receive are a ‘Link’ making our collective ‘Chain’ stronger every time. Links are given when a customer calls, writes or e-mails in to tell us they had wonderful service from any one of our amazing staff. This can range from their first call in to our office to speak to our receptionist or customer service representative scheduling their appointment, to one of our technicians out to fix their furnace or plumbing, to a manager or Comfort Consultant advising them on their best options for a remodel or new HVAC equipment. Our staff cares and it shows and people like to tell us about it. These Links go up on a bulletin board in our office for everyone to see.

We don’t just count on our customers for Links! We can give them to each other too! Employees give them to each other when they see someone going above and beyond or when they stay late to help out, when they know they’ve done something special to make a customer or even a fellow employee feel special. We usually average over 150 customer Links a year and about the same from fellow employees.

Every quarter, the top three Link Receivers get a prize. At the end of the year, at our Holiday Party, we share special comments we’ve received from customers with the company and their families that attend. We also do a raffle. We don’t just raffle prizes for the people that have received Links but also have a drawing for those have given Links, as we think it’s important and special that we do this for each other as well.

Like so many other companies, we also work to incentivize our employees, but unlike others, it’s not to make more money, it’s to make our customers so happy, they feel compelled to tell us about it. When is the last time you were so happy with your service you felt the need to call the company to tell them? Next time you have the thought cross your mind, follow through, it may be the one Link they need to complete their Chain!
