Make Your Home Your Own

The Window & Door Store (www.MarvinWindowStore.com) opened its Lincoln location in October of 2015 and has since had the pleasure of working with many local architects, contractors, developers, businesses, and homeowners. Just as the name of the business states, The Window & Door Store specializes in those two items for both new construction projects and as full turnkey replacement solutions.

Tell us a little about your business. The Window & Door Store is a local distributor of Marvin and Integrity by Marvin windows and doors. Our companies have been partners for over 40 years and take great pride in that longstanding relationship.  We are also a Tru Distinction Dealer for Therm-Tru, carrying their fiberglass and steel exterior door product lines. From project consultation, design development, and CAD services to pre-finishing, installation, and warranty service, we can offer as much or as little help as is desired for a commercial, residential or industrial project.

What prompted you to open a business in Lincoln and how has your experience been so far? Marvin Windows and Doors asked us to open a location in town to service the market and sell their products.  We are busy getting to know the contractors in Lincoln and also helping people get their windows replaced after the May 2016 hail storm.  Our parent company, Chicago Lumber Co. of Omaha has been in Omaha for over 140 years, so as a neighboring market, Lincoln was an easy choice and we’ve very much enjoyed working with those in the community so far.

Who are the owners/important executives? We are an employee-owned company.  Our President is Rick Hullinger and our General Manager, Jim Cole, oversees the Lincoln operation.  Our company is dedicated to allocating the necessary resources to make sure that our Lincoln location has everything it needs to be successful in the market.

What do you think makes you different from other companies similar to yours? We believe in The Golden Rule; treat others the way you want to be treated.  We feel strongly that we have the best products in the market to offer our customers, and we follow that up with the best service and support to ensure a great experience.  We shoot you straight and are able to provide optimal solutions for your project.

What do you like about doing business in Lincoln? Lincoln has a small town feel with a bigger city atmosphere.  The people are extremely nice and easy to work with, which makes doing business very enjoyable.  Our location on 56th Street just south of Hwy 2 is convenient for a lot of people as the south end of town continues to grow and the existing homes get older and need their windows replaced.

What kind of community organizations/groups are you involved with? We are members of the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, Lincoln Young Professionals Group, and the Home Builders Association of Lincoln.

Do you have a business philosophy or mission statement? Our company mission is to provide quality, value-priced building products with professional sales, service and support for our customers.  People buy from people they know and trust and we strive each day to be the window and door supplier of choice in Lincoln.

What do you see happening with the business in the next five years? We definitely see the opportunity for growth in our future here.  We are constantly looking for new products and services to add to our mix of offerings that will be beneficial to the new construction and replacement segments of the market.

What is one of the biggest challenges that your company has faced? For the most part it’s been the construction on 56th street, so we are thankful that the project has been completed because we’re now visible to passersby and people are able to easily stop in and talk to us about windows for their projects!

What has been your most important achievement as a business? Every day is a new horizon for us, and as we’re relatively new to the area there are sure to be many to come. However, we consider the successful completion of each project and the satisfaction of the customer as an important achievement, and we’re proud to report that there have been some really great ones so far.

What is one goal for your business that you have yet to accomplish? We are constantly working on growing our new construction sales and educating builders on who we are, what we stand for, and the products we offer.

Stop by today to check out the showroom and discuss your project!
