How did you get started in the business? – I worked for a small bank in Denver, CO and had my first taste of the mortgage industry. I was hooked after that–there are a lot of things to love and hate about this business but all in all I sincerely enjoy what I do.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – I was working in San Antonio and doing very well in the mortgage industry. I had several builder sales representatives who became my friends and one of them was killed. It really hit home for me and reminded me of the importance of family. I tend to be a workaholic so sometimes those moments remind you that it is good to have balance in life.
Tell me a little about your family. – My husband, Tony, and I got married two years ago and have a 9 month old son named Brayden. They are both such a blessing to me and I am thankful every day for having them in my life. I also have two wonderful stepchildren, Katelyn who is 10 years old and Ethan who is 8.
What are you the most proud of? – I am the most proud of my work ethic. My mom was a single parent raising three kids so I certainly was not handed anything in life. I am truly thankful that the values I was taught as a child included making your own successes and not relying on others to do it for you.
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – Well, anyone who knows me probably already knows this but I am a huge San Antonio Spurs fan. I obviously love the Huskers as well, but after living in San Antonio it is hard not to be a fan of the Spurs.
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Pertinacious!
If you could have a super power, what would it be? – I have always wanted Wonder Woman’s truth lasso. Though it might not be the best idea to always know what others are thinking…
If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – Growing up I really wanted to be an attorney. Not one that pushed paperwork, but who argued with people all day in court. Ironically, mortgages can be a lot like representing clients as an attorney. You have to be able to defend, make valid points, be articulate, and know the laws.
If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – Hands down, Gregg Poppovich or Tim Duncan. More than likely it would be Gregg Poppovich because he is such an amazing coach and leader. It would be an honor to be able to pick his brain. (That is if he gave me more than one-word answers)
