On August 3, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the People’s City Mission Help Center, People’s City Mission (pcmlincoln.org) will be handing out backpacks full of school supplies for children, youth and families in need (6800 P Street). This drive-thru event is open to the public, but to participate, shoppers must have a Clarity card. These cards can be acquired at the Help Center on Tuesdays from 9 to 11 a.m.
Christ Place Church will also be hosting a private event just for shelter guests only; this includes backpacks and school supplies, as well as new shoes and free haircuts. People’s City Mission wants all its kids to be well prepared for their first day of school.
People’s City Mission is grateful to Christ Place for many years of helping its kids and families feel special!
To help prepare a child or youth for the new school year, drop off new or gently used backpacks and school supplies to either of People’s City Mission locations during the month of July. New or gently used adult backpacks are always in need as well.
