One of the most heartwarming things is to see a business start up locally and be highly successful because they concentrate on doing all the right things for all the right reasons. That seems to be the story behind John Henry’s Plumbing, Heating, & Air Conditioning  (jhlincoln.com).

Deb and John Henry (Jack) Zohner started John Henry’s out of their home in 1996. Prior to that, Jack Zohner was the Plant Operations Manager at Novartis. He felt there was a niche that needed to be filled that would serve our community better. Jack joked that he “traded in 43 neckties for a plumbing service truck and uniforms.” Then the work to build a great company began.

John Henry’s was built with the motto in mind of “Quality at a Reasonable Cost.” Jack Zohner believed that all of the stars had to line up in order to meet the needs of the customers, which would happen by concentrating on quality and becoming the best choice available. This resulted in John Henry’s beginning to grow quickly.

Jack Zohner said, “Starting a company and surviving is tough. John Henry’s went through some really challenging times which helped us understand the things that are important in business. Today we are alive and well. The strong support in our community made a difference. We are truly blessed as a company and grateful for the support our 25K customers provide.”

“Alive and well” may be an understatement because John Henry’s has grown to 70 “John Henry’s team players” – named as such because they are an incredible team that works hard together. The proof is in the awards!

John Henry’s has won the Better Business Bureau Ambassador of Integrity twice and the Integrity Award twice! No other company in Lincoln has done that. They also won the Lincoln Journal Star’s People’s Choice Award for plumbing and HVAC every year it covered their industry as well as the KFOR Best of Lincoln. They were awarded the Lennox Centurion Award four times; an award that only goes to those in the top 5% in North America. They also consistently receive the Angie’s Super Service Award for plumbing and HVAC.

Jack Zohner feels, “The awards reflect what is in the heart and souls of the John Henry’s team. It takes hard work and dedication to be recognized. It starts with hiring for attitude and training for skill. I believe we have the best team in the world. They are like family to me!”

Deb and Jack Zohner have worked hard to set an example for their team and even other businesses that may be watching. They believe their legacy will be in building ongoing careers for their team. Deb Zohner feels, “watching the team members grow individually is the best reward we can ask for.”

Two “team members” that have been fun to watch grow are their daughter, Lindsey Reinke, and her husband, Joe Reinke.  They have taken an active role in management and the succession plan includes them taking over the business. Lindsey Reinke watched the company grow from the beginning and understands what is important.

John Henrys has a bright future and plans to continue being the best choice to serve our community.  Our community is blessed with a company like John Henrys that will continue providing quality plumbing and HVAC service!
