Nebraska City’s 2011 Arbor Day Committee is proud to recognize Joel and Helen Lundak as this year’s Arbor Day Honorees. The prestigious Arbor Day Honoree award is reserved for individuals and community groups who have contributed significant time and talent to make Nebraska City and Otoe County a better place to live – especially through environmental or conservational improvements to the ecosystem. Arbor Day Honorees foster the ideals that J. Sterling Morton strived for by establishing Arbor Day.

Joel Lundak, a Board Member of the Friends of Arbor Lodge philanthropic organization, is a UNL Master Gardener. He has planted over 2,400 flower bulbs including, tulips, daffodils and hyacinths at various locations throughout Arbor Lodge State Historical Park.
