Cattle Bank & Trust Opens In-School Branch at Roper Elementary

Three years after opening their first “in-school branch” at Arnold Elementary, Cattle Bank & Trust (www.cattlebank.com) officially opened a second in-school location on January 30 and began accepting deposits from Roper Elementary students. To commemorate the grand opening of the branch, the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce conducted an official ribbon cutting and the school held an assembly to teach students about the benefits of positive financial habits associated with savings accounts.

Cattle Bank & Trust, along with Roper Elementary staff, and Tammie Fischer from the University of Nebraska Center of Economic Education, have worked diligently over the last year to plan and organize this new in-school branch. Staffed by 4th and 5th grade student tellers, supervised by Cattle Bank employees, and housed out of a classroom, the branch accepts deposits from Roper students once a week.

To help the students get started, Cattle Bank & Trust will match their first deposit up to $5.00. Incentives will also be provided as the students reach various savings goals. The intention of this program is to provide the students with opportunities to learn about how financial institutions operate and how to become “super savers” themselves.

Cattle Bank & Trust is a family-owned community bank that is headquartered in Seward, NE, with five locations in Seward and Lincoln. Learn more online at www.cattlebank.com. Questions can be directed to Roger Cattle (402) 420-7400 / roger@cattlebank.com.
