Cheever Construction has recently been recognized by the Associated General Contractors – Nebraska Building Chapter at their annual Build Nebraska Awards banquet. Selected as “Project of the Year” in the $5 – $15 Million category was the new IAC Acoustics-GT Exhaust Manufacturing Facility built in Lincoln. The project owner is Lincoln Airport Authority, who will lease the facility to IAC. The Build Nebraska Award program is designed to recognize outstanding projects, evaluated by national AGC affiliates, based on innovation in methods and materials, project management, client service, challenge of a difficult job and sensitive treatment of the environment and surroundings.
With four-acres under its roof, this new facility consolidates five plants around the United States into one central facility in Lincoln. IAC/GT Exhaust manufactures industrial mufflers and sound suppression panel systems. A variety of nine overhead cranes travel the 450-foot building length with 5-ton to 15-ton lifting capacity. From start of design through to completion covered a 13-month time frame. Building erection began on December 23, 2013 and the first muffler was fabricated on May 7, 2014.
Cheever Construction enlisted strategic firms of The Clark Enersen Partners and Olsson Associates as well as a design team and core sub-contractors including Schwisow Construction, Vision Mechanical and Gregg Electric that focused on the client’s needs while working through the challenges of poor soils and winter construction.
