Country Sliced Ham & Café Announces 12 Months of Giving Through Donation Drives

Country Sliced Ham & Café (www.countryslicedhamandcafe.com) and Doorstep Diner Catering (www.doorstepdiner.com) have announced 12 months of giving through donation drives. Unable to fulfill donation requests from nonprofits like they could before COVID, Country Sliced Ham and Doorstep Diner wanted to still do what they could to support the community.

“Feeling powerless and sad that we are unable to help our nonprofits in Lincoln like we normally do, we decided to do what we can…donation drives,” said Laurie Fraser, owner of Country Sliced Ham & Café, Doorstep Diner Catering, and The Event Space at 5550.

Each month, they will focus on a different nonprofit to rally donations for. People can drop off at Country Sliced Ham & Café (6900 O St., STE 120), Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., or at Doorstep Diner Catering (5550 S 59th St., STE 10), Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Efforts began in November with Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln’s “TOOLSGiving”, which encouraged donations of tools and supplies for volunteers hard at work building homes. The lineup for the following year is as follows:

  • December – Child Advocacy Center, stuffed animal drive
  • January – Malone Center, baby drive for diapers, wipes, breast pumps, swaddles, etc.
  • February – The Food Bank of Lincoln, “For the love of food!”
  • March – CEDARS, kids’ hygiene drive
  • April – Art Bus LNK, art supplies drive
  • May – Josh the Otter, celebrating Water Safety Month with a life vest drive
  • June – Loaves and Fishes, canned food drive for the homeless
  • July – Big Brothers Big Sisters, back-to-school supplies drive
  • August – Houses of Hope, sheets and towel drive for adult males transitioning out of rehab into a halfway house
  • September – Trees of Hope, hygiene drive
  • October – Junior League, diaper drive
