Assemble Lincoln (assemblelincoln.com), Lancaster County’s standing committee tasked with developing a Downtown Lincoln Convention Center, sought input from the public at their open house and information session on June 18. Members of the community were encouraged to attend and participate in the important discussion.

The open house was held on Tuesday, June 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lincoln High School, (2229 J St.). This event provided an opportunity for the public to learn more about the nine sites that are being evaluated as possible convention center locations, provide clarity on the site selection process and gather valuable input on the community’s priorities and concerns throughout the decision making process.

“We are excited to engage with the community and provide transparency on the site selection process for the Downtown Convention Center,” said Sen. Anna Wishart, Chair of the Public Engagement Committee of Assemble Lincoln.

“We believe that involving the community in the site selection process is essential for the success of the Downtown Convention Center,” added Fabio VazdeMelo Braz, Project Manager of Legends.

The evening’s agenda went as follows:

  • 5 – 5:30 p.m. – Networking opportunity to connect with fellow community members and project stakeholders
  • 5:30 – 6 p.m. – Presentation on the Site Selection Process Overview
  • 6 – 7 p.m. – Community Interactive Session & Open House Discussion
