The Downtown Lincoln Association (downtownlincoln.org) announced O is Open, a community campaign celebrating the shops, restaurants and bars of downtown Lincoln and inviting residents to support them during Project O Street.
Project O Street is a significant investment in the main street’s future. Like any major project, it has created a perception among some residents that downtown is harder to reach. Thanks to careful planning by Constructors, O Street has stayed navigable throughout the work and plentiful parking remains close and easy to access. O is Open is designed around the idea that downtown is open and is easy to get to.
To give people a reason to make the trip, the campaign features a community sweepstakes. Up to $1,000, good at businesses in the Downtown Lincoln gift card program, will be awarded to residents who visit participating downtown businesses and enter in person. No purchase is necessary to enter or win. The prize is an invitation to rediscover everything that is still very much open.
“O means open,” said Todd Ogden, President and CEO of the Downtown Lincoln Association. “Project O Street is going to make our main street even better, and thanks to the great work of the crews, getting downtown and finding parking is easier than people might think.”
The campaign runs through October 15. Winners will be drawn on October 20 and contacted directly. Full details and official rules are available at oisopen.com.
