First National Bank Assists with Flood Recovery and Rebuilding Efforts
First National Bank (www.fnbo.com) has partnered with the Nebraska Community Foundation (NCF) to create the ‘Rebuild the Heartland Community Fund’ to raise funds for recovery and rebuilding efforts in communities across the region that have been impacted by the recent flooding. First National Bank contributed $100,000 to establish the fund and has since matched $150,000 in additional donations. One hundred percent of all contributions to the Rebuild the Heartland Community Fund will be awarded to non-profit organizations leading recovery and rebuilding efforts in communities impacted by the floods.
A running event that took place in Lincoln on March 24 contributed a significant amount to the fund. The Lincoln Track Club and the Lincoln Running Company teamed up and hosted the Nebraska Strong Run at the Jayne Snyder Trail Center to raise funds for the Nebraska flood relief. Each individual entry of $30 was matched by the Lincoln Track Club for a total of $60. There was a virtual component to this run, so a total of 26 states had runners participate along with several deployed military members. With 907 registrations, plus other donations that were collected through the registration process and raffle tickets, a total of $81,932 was raised. This amount was then matched by First National Bank, with all funds donated to the Rebuild the Heartland Community Fund. In total, the Nebraska Strong Run raised $163,864, all of which is going towards helping Nebraskans affected by the flooding.
