As we step into the New Year, Tobacco Free Lancaster County (TFLC) (tobaccofreelancastercounty.org) invites individuals and organizations to participate in the ongoing efforts to create a healthier, tobacco-free community. This year, TFLC is focused on advancing key initiatives that address the widespread impact of tobacco and e-cigarette use.

TFLC works to eliminate tobacco use and exposure by focusing on:

  • Smoke-Free and Vape-Free Housing: Advocating for policies that protect residents from the dangers of secondhand smoke and vapor.
  • Public Education on Flavored Products: Raising awareness about the risks of menthol and other flavored tobacco products, which disproportionately target youth and vulnerable populations.
  • Cultural Competency in Tobacco Education: Tailoring tobacco prevention programs to be culturally relevant and inclusive for diverse communities.
  • Systematic Cessation Referrals: Partnering with healthcare, social service, and education agencies to provide effective resources and support for people trying to quit tobacco use.

By engaging with the coalition, individuals and organizations can help identify additional areas of focus for the coming year, ensuring that all voices are heard and the needs of everyone in the community are addressed.
